Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer now seems closer to moving to Manchester United.

The latest update on this pursuit is brought by Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims the player has already arrived at the Munich airport to sort out his future.

Even though the reporter had previously claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea were both fighting for the signing, it’s now said that it’s the Red Devils who are in ‘pole position’ to land him from Bayern Munich.

Earlier today, we had already covered claims from German outlet Bild which sounded very optimistic about the move.

They said Sabitzer was ‘about to jump’ to the Old Trafford side, as his departure from Bayern Munich was ‘imminent’ after he missed a training session.

Manchester United announced on Tuesday morning the injury of Christian Eriksen, and it’s no surprise to see Erik ten Hag moving for a new midfielder on deadline day.

Reports from the English media have been claiming the Red Devils are initially landing the player on a loan deal until the end of the season, and this is backed up by Sky Germany, who state ‘a loan with a subsequent purchase option is under discussion’.
