Despite claims that Manchester United were close to signing Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahçe, there is still an interest in Odysseas Vlachodimos.

That’s according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, who has taken to Twitter on Thursday to reveal the latest about the club’s interest in the Greek goalkeeper.

He claims that Manchester United, despite their interest in the Turkish shot stopper, have made an ‘official offer’ to Vlachodimos himself.

In fact, there’s already a ‘verbal agreement in principle’, and the player could sign a contract at Old Trafford until 2028.

The reason for all this is that Erik ten Hag ‘wants him’, but no decision has been made yet because of the avenue pursued to sign Bayindir.

Regarding whether or not Vlachodimos would be willing to move to Manchester United, it’s said that the player would be ‘ready to challenge’ André Onana for the number one role, which is something the Dutch manager appears to be keen on to keep the Cameroon international on his toes going forward.

Now, we have to wait and see who the Red Devils go for, as they have a decision to make, with the Greek player (€15m) twice as expensive as his Turkish counterpart, who is said to be the subject of a €7m or so bid from the Premier League side.
