Manchester United will need to make their move for Napoli defender Kim Min-jae between July 1st and 15th July.

That’s according to Il Mattino, who say his current release clause must be activated between those dates if he is to leave the Italian champions this summer.

The newspaper covers how President Aurelio de Laurentiis today met with manager Luciano Spalletti to discuss the future and what they’ll do in the summer transfer window to ensure they are competing again next season and beyond.

First, though, there will have to be discussions about the current squad, who are highly coveted by Europe’s biggest sides after an impressive campaign.

One of those who is wanted by many is Kim Min-jae, who has been one of the stars of the show since a move from Fenerbahçe in the summer.

At the moment there is a ‘concrete hypothesis’ that he will leave and Manchester United are currently ‘in first place’ in terms of the clubs chasing his signature.

They’ve been credited with an interest in him for months and that appears to have picked up over the last few weeks, with it even claimed yesterday that they have submitted a colossal offer for him with wages akin to those offered to star strikers.

Il Mattino don’t confirm that but do say Manchester United are out in front, with Manchester City and Chelsea also cited as interested parties.

The sudden acceleration of their efforts may be to do with the fact his release clause is only open for a 15-day window, with Il Mattino stating that it opens on July 1st and closes on July 15th.

Thus, they need to have a deal to finalised somewhere between those dates, which would explain why they are seemingly getting their house in order now.
