Manchester City offer ‘dizzying’, and reason why they’re set to sign more

 

Catalan newspaper Sport has had another recent moan about English clubs taking La Masia’s greatest talent. It’s a situation which has been going on for some years.

Pep Guardiola, now Manchester City manager, had the same frustrations whilst he was manager of Barcelona and whilst the Catalan press can often be hypocritical and go over the top about the situation, the reason for their annoyance is clear.

Sport says Manchester City are offering a full package to La Masia’s best to tempt them to move to England. That includes a high financial package, and also trips for the family to come and visit the players. Flights and hotels will be paid for on several-day trips to visit any players who sign for Manchester City’s youth set-up, and those trips will be financed up to ten times a year.

Manchester City’s ‘dizzying’ offers are something Barcelona can’t compete with.

Whereas Guardiola’s current club can offer wages of €80k to €120k a year to player’s from 16, Barcelona would only pay €15k to €21k, and that’s before all the extras Manchester City offer.

The Catalan media expect further La Masia products to be tempted and make the move to Manchester City.
