Last summer, Manchester City looked at Lucas Paquetá but decided not to go ahead with the deal due to off field issues with the West Ham United star.
The attacking midfielder is back on the Citizens’ agenda and earlier this month, Fichajes stated the two parties have a ‘salary agreement’ in place .
Foot Mercato have backed that up and then provided more updates on Manchester City’s efforts to sign the West Ham player in the next window.
With the English champions agreeing personal terms with the former Lyon man, all that’s remaining now is for them to agree a deal with David Moyes’ side.
The Brazil international’s deal lasts until 2027, with an option for another year, and has an £85m [€100m] release clause, which Pep Guardiola’s side want to avoid paying as of now.
It’s claimed Manchester City are ‘doing everything to lower’ the 26-year-old’s price, and to do this, they are still talking with West Ham.
Paquetá is the priority target for Pep Guardiola’s side and Foot Mercato add that they will only activate the player’s clause as the ‘last resort’, if West Ham refuse to lower the price.
Even though the operation is complicated, the negotiations, likely between Manchester City and West Ham, are ongoing for Paquetá.
