Mexican newspaper Record has a detailed report about Chivas Guadalajara’s financial struggles this year.

The club are finding it difficult to make more money from TV stations and sponsorship deals, and have now hit a stage where they can’t pay for transfers they’ve already made.

One of these moves is Uriel Antuna, who was signed from Manchester City at the start of the year.

Record claims Chivas are still to pay the fee of US$11m they agreed for the signing, and the Premier League side aren’t happy about it.

Even though the Mexican club managed to renegotiate the payment methods with other sides, this isn’t the case with Manchester City, who requested for the agreement to be honoured.

It’s said that the English club have already asked for the pending payments, but Chivas haven’t been able to settle their debts so far.

Record doesn’t bring any further details on when the club plan to make the payments.

Uriel Antuna signed for the Premier League side in 2017, but never had a chance to make a debut for the first team. He had loans at FC Groningen and LA Galaxy before moving back to Mexico in January 2020.
