But what only A Bola claimed, and they did it very discreetly, is that Manchester United would be interested in the player too.
The outlet says that José Mourinho’s side is “attentively following” the left-back, who turned 21 yesterday and has been calling the attention of European giants.
Benfica signed Grimaldo from Barcelona in January for €1.5m and immediately protected him with a €60m release clause. The Catalan club reportedly still have a share of a future sale, which would make the Portuguese side want that little bit extra than would have been acceptable previously.
In the Manchester City article, A Bola claimed that Borussia Dortmund tried to sign the player this summer with a loan deal and an option to buy, but Benfica turned it down.
