Arne Slot’s ‘no’ to Leeds United yesterday ‘does not necessarily mean’ he is uninterested in the job in future, or any other Premier League opportunities.

That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, who say it is not a complete ‘no’ from the Dutch manager to moving to England at some point.

Leeds moved for Slot this week after their failed attempt to get Andoni Iraola from Rayo Vallecano, who was also targeted as a replacement for Jesse Marsch.

Like the Spaniard, the Dutchman turned down the opportunity, insisting he was happy at Feyenoord and would be staying there to complete the job that he has started this season.

That rejection was a blow to Leeds’ hopes of getting a deal done but AD say his decision to stay is only for ‘the rest of the season’.

According to the newspaper, there will be a decision to be made in the summer and whether Slot again resists the ‘lure from abroad’ depends on what Feyenoord can offer him.

While he is having a great time with the Eredivisie side, the situation is hard at the club, who have regularly failed to back him in the transfer market despite his success.

Thus his promise to stay yesterday only ‘stands for at least the rest of this season‘. After that it is a case of wait and see and if any club, Leeds included, offered a ‘concrete lure’ in the summer then he may find it hard to resist again.

Indeed there is a belief that Leeds are not the only club to have noticed his success with Feyenoord and there are likely to be more interested parties down the line, even after he rejected the move to Elland Road publicly yesterday.
