The Portuguese press normally bring very few pieces of transfer news on the day after matches, and that’s a reason why Sporting aren’t involved in many rumours today.

None of the local newspapers has any updates on William Carvalho’s situation, and West Ham’s ‘bluff’ seems to be the last word they had on it.

Sporting played against Estoril on Sunday, and William was left out of the match-day squad once again. And although fans and press believe his absence from the start of the season has a lot to do with the West Ham transfer, manager Jorge Jesus seemed reluctant to come out and say that.

“I thought he wasn’t in the physical condition to play. The board told me to take the best technical decisions I want. And I hope the end of the window comes soon so these things that disturb the group come to an end.”

Carvalho only played the first league match of the season, and was then left out of the rest of the games, with the Portuguese press repeatedly saying it’s been West ham related.

The negotiations with West Ham have been dragging for over a month now, and Jesus hopes these next three days go fast.
