In case Leeds United fans were wondering what had happened to Bamba Dieng, we are here to give you the latest on the Senegalese winger.

A target for the Elland Road side during the final days of the transfer window, it appeared everything was set for a transfer to Yorkshire.

Andrea Radrizzani even took to Twitter to celebrate the signing, but what happened next to Leeds, few could have expected.

Having sent a plane to Nice to help him travel to England in time to complete the signing, the Premier League side were blindsided by OGC Nice, who offered the player a stay in France, which he preferred.

That should have been the end of it, with Leeds left a bit disappointed, but Dieng then went on to fail his medical with the Ligue 1 side, forcing him to stay at Marseille, where he wasn’t really wanted.

The aim was to sell him for a healthy profit, but that never happened, and he was sent to train by himself for a bit, and left out of the club’s Champions League squad.

However, there have been positive signs for him, with manager Igor Tudor first suggesting he was getting close to returning to the first-team.

Now, a few weeks later, the Croatian has confirmed during a press conference the Leeds summer target is now a ‘serious option’ for the club as they prepare to face Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

He said, relayed by Le Phocéen: “He’s put in good work. We’re still evaluating his situation (for him to start). The important is to have a good team to try and win the game tomorrow.”
