Amid the links between Vitor Pereira and Wolverhampton Wanderers, reports from Brazil continue to say the manager will be leaving Corinthians in the coming months.
The latest news on this case comes from journalist Jorge Nicola. He claims that even though the coach last night told the local media no decision has been taken on his future yet, the 54-year-old has actually already communicated to the club board he’s not staying.
He said: “An important source of mine at Corinthians assured me that Vitor Pereira has already informed the president, Duilio Monteiro Alves, the football coordinator, Alessandro Nunes, and director of football, Roberto de Andrade, that he is not staying for the next season. He has a number of reasons that justify his decision.”
The manager’s departure from the club had already been reported at the start of the week, and that’s where the last Wolves links came from.
Band host Neto pointed out that by returning to Europe, the manager would find a couple of Premier League clubs without a manager, with the Molineux side being one of them.
The first links with Pereira were reported following the sacking of Bruno Lage at the start of the month, and even though the Corinthians boss didn’t seem to be the first option for the job, it now looks like he could be an alternative.
Pereira previously worked at Porto, Al-Ahli, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, 1860 Munich and Shangai SIPG.
Before Wolves, he was also linked to a job at Everton.
