Injuries and poor form have prevented Naby Keïta from featuring regularly for Liverpool ever since he arrived from RB Leipzig.

Since the start of the last season, the midfielder has been restricted to only 28 league appearances, with only 16 of those being starts.

That, however, has not stopped him from drawing attention from elsewhere, and in particular from Atlético Madrid.

According to Fichajes.net, the La Liga side will look to strengthen their midfield for next season due to the possibility of them losing a few players in the same position in the summer.

Lucas Torreira is on loan from Arsenal but won’t continue in Madrid, while the futures of Saúl Ñíguez, Héctor Herrera and Geoffrey Kondogbia remain uncertain.

As per the report, Diego Simeone has a ‘clear objective’ of signing the Guinean as the Liverpool player is ‘one of the great wishes’ of Los Rojiblancos manager for next market.

The former RB Leipzig man has struggled for minutes and it’s claimed the midfielder’s performances from the start of this season haven’t pleased Jürgen Klopp.

Therefore, the English club’s manager is ready to give a ‘go ahead’ for Keïta’s summer sale.

If he was to swap Liverpool for Atlético, Fichajes.net point out he will have a new opportunity to showcase his qualities in La Liga after his ‘disastrous stint at Anfield.’

It’s worth pointing out that Fichajes.net don’t categorically mention if it’s their own information or if they take this from elsewhere, but if Atlético have a genuine interest in the Liverpool player, more reports on this topic could be expected in the coming days and weeks.
