If there’s one man who seems to have taken to Pep Guardiola’s style of football particularly well at Manchester City, it’s Kevin De Bruyne.

The 25-year-old, who already showed how good of a player he was last season under Manuel Pellegrini, appears to have taken his game to a whole new level, scoring two goals and assisting his teammates five times in six league games so far.

Unfortunate to pick up a hamstring injury just before the international break, the Belgian attacking midfielder was a big loss in his club’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham at the weekend, and will also be missed by his compatriots in the next couple of World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Gibraltar.

Speaking to the press, relayed by DH, Roberto Martinez explained the situation.

He said: “You saw at the weekend, Manchester City suffered without Kevin in the side. He’s a very influential player for both his club and the Red Devils, but that happens in football. It’s just a question of moving forward. We need to keep our heads up. There is no profile like De Bruyne’s, he’s unique”

Fielding a 3-4-2-1 in his last game in charge of Belgium against Cyprus, Roberto Martinez played both Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard behind Romelu Lukaku, leading to a 3-0 win.

With the Chelsea man and the Everton striker fully fit, who will try and fill that void left by De Bruyne? Thorgan Hazard? Dries Mertens? Kevin Mirallas? Nacer Chadli?

First world problems and all that.
