It seems Manchester City could be getting some heavy competition if they want to sign Mouctar Diakhaby from Lyon.

Recently linked to Pep Guardiola’s side, the French defender is attracting the interest from several European sides. And this list could now include Barcelona.

Catalan outlet Sport has a story about the defender today, praising all his abilities and saying that he could be the natural successor for Samuel Umtiti. Both because of his football origins and the very similar skills.

They are still not sure that Barcelona will go for him, but there’s certainly a small campaign for it to happen, as they simply put that article out in the Barça section, showing he could be a player to be landed.

Speaking of Manchester City’s interest, they claim it wouldn’t be easy for Guardiola to land Diakhaby, especially because he has just signed a contract extension which now runs until 2022.

No amounts are mentioned in the story. But in case City and Barcelona compete, he certainly won’t come out cheap.
