Manchester City’s interest in Sporting full-back Nuno Mendes is a subject that has been on the Portuguese media for a while, and a new update is brought today by newspaper O Jogo.

The first focus of their story is the transfer of Pedro Porro, who after a loan spell with the Lions, is set to move permanently on a €8.5m deal.

But that buying option could be ignored in case Manchester City choose to go for Mendes now, because according to O Jogo, the clubs could end up finding a common ground and structure a new deal involving the Spaniard.

Sporting believe they can sell Mendes for €60m and €65m, with bonuses included, and they believe his participation in the Euro will keep his price up, even though the fact he’s on the bench may not attract the big bids.

Still, it’s believed that Manchester City could offer Porro, since he’s still theirs, and make a bid for Mendes involving the Spanish defender.

O Jogo points out that Mendes is also wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid, so Pep Guardiola’s side can’t wait for too long, because Porro’s deal is close to being concluded.
