Liverpool and Tottenham missed out on the signing of Randal Kolo Muani after Eintracht Frankfurt pulled off a ‘real coup’ to secure his signature.

That’s according to Frankfurter Rundschau, who say the Premier League duo ‘dealt more or less intensively’ with the Frenchman to try and secure his signature.

Muani has been in superb form for French side Nantes this season, with eight goals and three assists in 21 games in Ligue 1 so far.

That’s earned him plenty of attention around Europe, particularly as his contract is set to expire in the summer.

Several Premier League sides have been linked with a move, with it explained last month that Liverpool were keen as he ‘fits the profile’.

Tottenham were also thought to be keen as they viewed the striker as a ‘bargain deal’, and Fabio Paratici had even held talks with the player’s entourage.

Muani, though, has elected to move to the Bundesliga, with Frankfurter Rundschau explaining that they have pulled out a ‘real coup’ by convincing the player to join them on a free in the summer.

The move is considered a coup because of the competition for him, with it explained that the attacker was ‘in great demand’ and both Liverpool and Tottenham, as well as the likes of AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, had all dealt with Muani ‘intensively’.

Frankfurt, though, had an advantage over those sides because squad manager Ben Manga has been in contact for 18 months and used his contacts to his advantage.

Muani is now set to arrive at Frankfurt on a deal until 2027 and will rise to become ‘a major earner’ at the club thanks to him arriving on a free transfer.

They’re delighted with the transfer, convinced they’ve pulled off a real coup and beaten competition like Liverpool and Tottenham in the process.
