Liverpool have joined the race for Boca Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez, according to reports from Argentina.

The news comes from Crack Deportivo Noticias on Youtube. There, they had been chatting about the Xeneize’s transfer window, and mentioned the battle there is for the 21-year-old.

It’s claimed that Liverpool ‘took the phone’ to make an approach for Fernandez’s signing.

The report even says that the Reds’ consulted former Boca Juniors midfielder Alexis Mac Allister about the youngster.

Liverpool are said to be following Fernandez closely, as they sent scouts to watch him play for Argentina’s U-23 squad in the Pre-Olympic tournament.

Boca Juniors fans seem worried about the possibility of losing Fernandez this month, as it’s mentioned that they may end up without a replacement for the start of the Argentine season.

Earlier this week, the very same outlet had reported Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder, as they’re also scouting the player in these international games, and now it seems Liverpool could be fighting the Gunners for this signing.

For now, there’s no mention of a price, but it is unlikely that this would be an overly expensive for the Reds, as players from Argentina tend to be far less expensive than those already in Europe.
