Following the recent links between Liverpool and OGC Nice midfielder Khéphren Thuram, there’s somepme in the Reds’ squad that is already pushing for this signing.

That’s Ibrahima Konaté, who was today interviewed by the French media and had a lot to say about his potential new teammate.

The two may have never played together, but the Liverpool player knows Thuram’s brother back from their time at FC Sochaux’s academy. That story was told to RMC Sport.

“Khéphren, he’s like my little brother, he’s someone I saw growing up. I was with his big brother in the training centre but Khéphren, I saw him grow. I saw him perform and progress at a level… It was incredible. Even when he came to the France team for his first call-up. I saw him at training and I was really surprised by his size and his technical ease”.

“I’d be very happy for him to come to Liverpool, I’d take him under my wing and I’d do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become. Now it is also up to him to work. But I would do everything to make him a top player.”

When mentioning the rumours, RMC Sport points out that Thuram is currently on Liverpool’s shortlist for the summer window.

It’s already been claimed by the French media that the Reds have been engaged in talks for the signing ‘for a few weeks’, and even spoke to the player’s entourage about the move.

Last week, it was claimed that Liverpool are still to place their first bid for Thuram, and with Nice willing to keep him for another year, they’re only letting him go if an ‘explosive offer’ arrives. With not many stories talking about the price for the transfer, that subject is a little bit in the dark for now.
