Liverpool have strengthened their midfield by signing Alexis Mac Allister earlier this month and are reportedly still looking to bring in another midfielder in the summer window.

On June 20th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Reds are ahead in the chase for Inter Milan star Nicolò Barella. It was also said he could double his wages should he decide to move to Anfield.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti took to Twitter to say the 26-year-old ‘remains a target’ for Liverpool.

He says Jürgen Klopp’s side are ‘internally evaluating’ whether to make a ‘concrete move (bid)’ for the Italy international in the next few days. Galetti doesn’t mention anything about the offer the Merseyside club are considering proposing.

The journalist states the Serie A side consider the player to be non-transferable and this would make it difficult for Liverpool to try and sign him in this window.

Klopp’s side aren’t the only English club after Barella. Last week, FcInterNews reported he is set to receive a ‘very important’ offer from Manchester United in the coming days.

Barella, who was part of the Inter squad that lost to Manchester City in the Champions League final, managed nine goals and 10 assists from 52 games last season.
