Around three weeks ago, France Football reported that Jürgen Klopp was tracking yet another young French youngster as he looks to improve the depth of his squad for next season.

The man in question was Paris Saint-Germain’s Mahamadou Dembélé, who, at 17, is considered one of the better talents in the French club’s academy.

However, his contract is due to run out at the end of the season, and the Ligue 1 club now have to try and fend off interest from abroad, notably Liverpool’s, in order to tie him down long-term.

L’Equipe on Wednesday look at all the contracts in the youth system Paris Saint-Germain have to sort out before June, including Dembélé’s.

Despite all of this, it appears that Paris Saint-Germain are currently winning the uphill battle, with L’Equipe explaining talks between the French club and their starlet have gone well, with the parties getting closer to an agreement over the past few days.

There is still hope for Liverpool, but it’s getting slimmer as time goes by.

We’ll have to see just how badly Jürgen Klopp wants Dembélé over the next week or so.
