Ever since Jürgen Klopp took over at Liverpool, the amount of young French players linked to the club has increased.

Both Lyon’s Jordy Gaspar and Paris Saint-Germain’s Fodé Ball-Touré have been linked with a move to Anfield this season, and it appears the German has added another to the list: Ballo-Touré’s teammate Mahamadou Dembélé.

According to France Football in France on Friday, the young centre-back, already a starter for the Ligue 1 champions in the Youth League, is of high interest to the Merseyside club, and hinted as favourites, who will have to see off competition from Arsène Wenger’s Arsenal if they are to convince him to head north.

The 17-year-old is also a France U18 international, starting the game on Thursday night in a 2-1 win against Germany, and with a contract running out in the summer, he would be free to go wherever during the next transfr window.

Keen to avoid another Kingsley Coman situation, the French side are desperate to tie him down for the foreseeable future, but with offers from Liverpool, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid and Lille (likely to offer him a starting spot) potentially on their way, it could be harder than first expected.

The young defender has made seven appearances for PSG’s Youth League side this season, scoring one goal.
