Liverpool have Sevilla defender Diego Carlos ‘listed among the defenders they could sign this summer’ and the Spanish side may be open to a deal.
The Reds are widely believed to be on the hunt for a new central defender this summer and have been linked to several around Europe.
One of those is Carlos, who has earned rave reviews for his performances this season after joining Sevilla in a £13.5m deal from Nantes last summer.
Several reports have indicated that Liverpool see him as a potential long-term partner for Virgil van Dijk and could make a big-money move to secure his signature this summer.
They do not state whether the Reds have made their move as yet, but should they do so, Sevilla may be open to negotiation.
At present, their focus is on just finishing the season rather than focusing on the transfer market, but it is explained that Monchi is ‘analysing various plans’ for when the market opens.
That includes potential sales, and they haven’t lost sight of a possible departure for the likes of Carlos, who would ‘raise the spending ceiling’ should he leave.
That indicates they are not totally opposed to a sale, although they will be looking for a high price if they are to sanction one.
