With Cristiano Giuntoli leaving Napoli in the same season they conquered an historic Serie A title, it’s natural that many clubs come after the football director.

It turns out that according to reports from Italy today, Liverpool were one of the clubs who had been interested in signing the club chief.

Alfredo Pedulla writes on his website that even though Giuntoli should be on his way to Juventus, there was an attempt by the Premier League club.

It’s said that among the approaches that happened in the past few weeks, there was a ‘constant silent pressing’ from Liverpool, who couldn’t succeed.

Giuntoli, however, has reportedly already chosen Juventus, and there are just formal issues to be sorted before he makes official the departure from Napoli and the move to the Old Lady.

Liverpool have seen Julian Ward leaving the role of director of football this summer and remain on the lookout for a replacement. Recent reports have claimed that former Wolfsburg official Jorg Schmadtke is the favourite for the job, but his arrival is still to be confirmed.
