When Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are linked with a player, you might as well link Liverpool and Arsenal, right?

That is, in essence, what Le10 Sport have done on Wednesday by publishing an article on their website claiming that both Jürgen Klopp and Arsène Wenger are very keen on Monaco’s Tiémoué Bakayoko.

According to the French website, both Liverpool and Arsenal have ‘concretely approached’ the Ligue 1 side this winter over a potential transfer, which is seemingly more than the other three have done.

However, the principality club are reported to have told the Premier League pair that a deal for their star defensive midfielder this winter wasn’t on the cards.

That the pair have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old isn’t really a surprise, considering Liverpool are apparently after Atalanta’s Franck Kessié, who plays in a similar position, while Arsenal… well, let’s just say Arsenal and defensive midfielders is a guaranteed story at some stage in any transfer window.

Even the signing of Granit Xhaka doesn’t seem to have changed that.
