Even before Claude Puel arrived at Southampton the club had a firm scouting record in France. Drissa Diallo had been Southampton’s scout but left with Mauricio Pochettino for Tottenham, Southampton responded by hiring two scouts in France.

That led to Tottenham and Southampton sharing several French targets and the clubs being linked with the same players continues to this day. Valere Germain isn’t one of those, yet.

French newspaper L’Equipe report that Claude Puel is keen on signing the player he once managed at Nice. Germain was on loan at Nice last season and had a pretty good goalscoring record, now back with AS Monaco he’s attracting attention from others.

Screen Shot 2017-01-12 at 08.27.43L’Equipe report that Everton are also interested, and they ‘follow with attention’. It’s hard to remember a winter window when Everton were linked with more players, and Ronald Koeman seems determined to add to his squad.

Injury to Yannick Bolasie and possible departures for players like Gerard Deulofeu and Oumar Niasse means Koeman will almost certainly be looking to bring a few players to Everton.

Germain is 26 years of age and a right footer who plays as the main striker, a support striker or on the left. He has a contract with Monaco until June 2018 and hasn’t heard from the club about an extension since August.
