Desperate for a new striker, Marseille are reportedly negotiating with two Premier League clubs, as well as Benfica, as they continue to look for the man to replace Bafétimbi Gomis.

According to RMC Sport, both Leicester’s Islam Slimani and Liverpool’s Divock Origi are the subject of negotiations between their respective clubs and the Ligue 1 outfit.

Considering Marseille seem reluctant to pay €20m for their other target, Konstantinos Mitroglou, trying to convince the Foxes of letting their record signing for less than that seems close to impossible.

As for Liverpool’s Belgian forward, reports from England suggesting he’s edging closer to a move to Wolfsburg on loan make a deal very complicated for Andoni Zubizarreta to pull off.

Of course, anything can happen between now and the end of the transfer window, especially considering the amount of offers Origi appears to have at his disposal, but Marseille seem to have left it rather late.

Slimani made 29 appearances for the Foxes last year, scoring eight goals and picking up five assists, while the former Lille starlet scored 11 goals and assisted his teammates four times in 47 appearances in all competitions, less than half of which were starts.
