The saga involving Everton Cebolinha’s departure from Grêmio is becoming a drama for another year.

Despite heavy rumours saying the player was ready to be sold to a European club, things once again seem to be collapsing as the Brazilian side hasn’t received any official offers for the 24-year-old.

Last month, Leicester City were linked to the winger, with reports saying the Foxes had made a bid for him.

Zero Hora journalist Diogo Oliver comes up today dismissing those claims. He says the interest from the Foxes was ‘only gossip’. Despite having English analysts following him, Everton Cebolinha hasn’t received any offers from the Premier League so far.

The journalist claims that even Napoli, who were the strongest side in the race, may not make a new attempt for the signing. Everton’s future is set to be decided between July and August, and Grêmio know they will no longer get a record fee for him.

A few years ago, we covered the rumours which linked Leicester to Luan, who also played for Grêmio at the time. He used to be the best footballer in Brazil, leading his side to the Copa Libertadores title in 2017.

However, Grêmio demanded too much when he was at his peak, and no one in Europe paid the fee. He ended up moving to Corinthians for only €5m this year.

If Grêmio continue to act the same way with Everton Cebolinha, things shouldn’t be very different.
