Claudio Ranieri is reportedly close on hiring a sporting director to replace Steve Walsh at Leicester City.
According to Sport, the Italian manager wants to work alongside Eduardo Macià, who was his partner at Valencia during the 2004/05 season.
They are said to have a good relationship and Ranieri wants someone he can trust to build the squad.
Macià had his work questioned at Betis, after a few signings such as Leandro Damião, Rafael van der Vaart and Amro Tarek.
But Ranieri’s approval wouldn’t only be based on his last work. The official was responsible for good transfers at Valencia (Carlos Marchena, David Silva, Raul Albiol) and Liverpool (Javier Mascherano, Dirk Kuyt, Fernando Torres).
Macià worked at Valencia from 1998 to 2006 until he was brought to Liverpool by Rafa Benítez. He later joined Olympiakos, Fiorentina, and finally Betis, where he terminated his contract at the end of last season.
