Leeds United are interested to sign Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza in the winter market.

Junior Firpo started the season as the first choice left-back before he suffered an injury, and Jesse Marsch deployed Pascal Struijk in the same position ahead of youngster Leo Fuhr Hjelde.

Struijk impressed on the left side of the defence and has retained his place even after the former Real Betis man regained full fitness.

La Razón now claim Leeds sporting director Victor Orta thinks of Pedraza to replace Junior. Apart from the Premier League side, Inter Milan showed interest in the 26-year-old, who had a short loan spell at Elland Road in 2017.

However, the Serie A side’s interest has now faded, meaning Marsch’s side want to take advantage of this to ‘present an offer’ for the Spaniard.

Therefore, with Inter out of the picture, Leeds are now the ‘only team threatening’ Pedraza’s continuity at Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarine, for their part, would be ‘open to negotiating’ with Leeds to sell the player in the January window.

To do this, they need a proposal that convince them, but the report provides no clarity over what fee is needed to convince Villarreal.
