Leeds United forward Chris Wood has been praised in the New Zealand media following his recent goal scoring exploits.

Better known as being a rugby country, football has been hitting the headlines in New Zealand, and especially the form of Wood.

Capital Football have reported on the form of New Zealand players currently playing abroad, with the national team’s World Cup qualifier against Fiji just around the corner. The football outlet believe Wood is leading the way among his compatriots, including West Ham United defender Winston Reid.

Wood’s performance against Birmingham City last week has been highlighted, given the Leeds United star earned himself a place in the Championship Team of the Week. The New Zealand international also became the outright top scorer in the Championship in that game, and has recently displayed a range of different goals.

The player’s form means Leeds United are being reported on more in the country, and there’s of course goodwill towards the club and their chase for promotion. With the swedish media being almost obsessed with Pontus Jansson’s time at Leeds, it looks like the club are continuing to interest a growing global audience.
