Leeds United summer signing Pontus Jansson believes the club should be in the Premier League after over a decade outside the top flight. The Championship side have been impressive form in recent weeks as they look to get finally get promotion to the top tier.

In an interview with Skanesport, Jansson was asked about the similarities between his former club Malmo and Leeds United. The 24-year-old said as soon as he arrived at Elland Road he could see a club that had history, and were proud of this.

Jansson thinks a club like Leeds United should be playing in the Premier League, and believes they will achieve this.

“When walking through the corridors I knew instantly there is a tradition at the club. All involved are proud of it and have every reason to be. Leeds belong in the top flight, and there we shall be again. I have felt at home here from the first day,” said Jansson on his new club.

After a poor start to the season which saw Leeds United record one win in their opening 6 games, they have managed to propel themselves up the Championship table in recent weeks. Garry Monk’s side have won their last 3 league games, which has seen them rise to 12th in the table, just 3 points off the play-off spots.

Jansson’s time at Leeds is being followed very closely in his native Sweden, and there’s a genuine excitement around the possibility of the defender helping his new club get back to the big time.
