On Thursday Sport Witness had a look at Leeds United coverage in the world media right now, as the club’s march to the top of the Championship is seeing them covered widely.

Denmark isn’t one of the countries which sees a lot of Leeds United coverage. Thomas Christiansen was born in Denmark, but his mother is Spanish and he moved to the country to really kick off his career in the game.

Christiansen played for Spain at both U21 and senior level, if just the once, and the Catalan press have already started to show signs of being ready to take credit for his managerial success.

The Danish are now fighting back, and in some style.

Friday’s edition of BT newspaper has Christiansen on the sport section front page. And he’s depicted as Jesus Christ.

The idea originally came from Leeds United fans on social media, with BT taking it to a new level. The Danish newspaper have a celebration of all things Leeds, and the success of the club this season under their ‘saviour’.

BT have contacted Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post, who has told them: “Thomas Christiansen is right now at the point where he is almost untouchable in Leeds. He has done everything perfectly so far.”
