In recent days there have been reports Cagliari are interested in Leeds United Giuseppe Bellusci due to the departure of Bruno Alves.

The Portugal international recently left the Serie A side for Rangers, and the need for a central defender has become even greater with reports former Leeds United player Dario Del Fabro could also leave this summer.

Bellusci has continued to be linked with a move to Cagliari after claims from Unione Sarda Del Fabro could be offloaded by the Sardinian side. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan with Pisa, and despite his return to Cagliari he looks surplus to requirements. The Sardinian newspaper says Leeds United’s Bellusci remains an option for the Italian side due to these developments.

AC Milan defender Gabriel Paletta has also been linked with the club.

Del Fabro was one of many players to arrive at Leeds United from Italy during Massimo Cellino’s early reign at the club, but he played just a handful of games during the 2014/15 season.

That summer Bellusci was also signed from Catania by Cellino and Nicola Salerno, as the two Italians adopted a policy of recruiting from Serie A and B.

Bellusci has had more success than Del Fabro at Leeds United, but his time at Elland Road looks to be coming to an end.
