Leeds United defender Maximilian Wöber has been spotted at Borussia Monchengladbach’s stadium ahead of completing a loan move to the club.

That’s according to Rheinische Post, who say a deal is expected to be completed quickly after he arrived at the German club on Friday afternoon.

Reports yesterday indicated that the Bundesliga side had moved quickly to secure Wöber’s signature, pushing through a deal despite not yet selling Nico Elvedi.

It was felt a deal was set to be closed in quick time, with the defender having a clause in his current contract allowing him to leave Leeds on loan following relegation.

According to RP’s information the defender was at the club today to ‘finalise the transfer details’ on his loan move from Leeds.

This has been backed up by a tweet from BMG Edits, who have pictured the centre-back arriving at the club for his meeting.

The newspaper says the process of signing him will be ‘shorter than’ the process of selling defender Nico Elvedi, who has been linked with a move to Wolves.

The impending deal has been confirmed by Gladbach director of football Roland Virkus, who has commented on the impending transfer as well.

“Max Wöber is an Austrian national player, he played in Leeds and took on responsibility there. Yes, we’re interested,” he reportedly told a media session.

“We’re in good talks and it’s clear that we’re pushing the issue because we believe the experience, he brings is good for the young squad.

“He’s also left-footed, we haven’t had a central defender for a long time, so it’s an important add-on.”
