Earlier on Monday, it was announced that five players from Besiktas’ squad would be cast to one side after new president Hasan Arat decided change was needed.

There has been a lot of talk in the past about his relationship with Todd Boehly, with the newly elected club leader boasting of a friendship between himself and the Chelsea owner, which could now come in handy.

That’s according to journalist Gökmen Özcan, who took to X to explain that the upcoming January transfer period will be extremely busy at Besiktas.

Not only have five foreigners been told they no longer feature in their plans, but ‘at least two locals’, meaning Turkish players, will be ‘parted ways’ in the coming weeks.

Going forward, it’s said ‘eyes are on’ the likes of Paris Saiint-Germain, Chelsea and Al-Nassr, who are three clubs Arat has a ‘co-operation agreement’ with.

This suggests he’s already held some talks with their directors about potential transfers, and it’s believed ‘at least 3 transfers are expected’ to take place from that trio of clubs.

Whether they all involve Chelsea remains to be seen, but another report in Turkey earlier on stated that the agents of Malang Sarr and Armando Broja were in talks with an unnamed big Turkish club.

Coincidence? It seems very unlikely.
