Atlético Madrid’s Yannick Carrasco has been making a name for himself in European football.

The Belgian international has started the season strongly scoring a hat-trick against Granada last week, and the winner against Rostov in the Champions League.

The former AS Monaco star is reportedly on the wishlist of several top European clubs, but he recently claimed he wants to stay at Atletico Madrid as long as possible. Chelsea have been repeatedly linked, and their interest may well have pushed renewal talks along.

Italian website Calciomercato have an article on the rise of the Belgian winger. The 23-year-old made his senior team debut under Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri at AS Monaco in Ligue 2.

Calciomercato say Carrasco is the ‘son of Ranieri’ as the Italian manager played a key role in the early days of his career.

It was under Ranieri that the Atletico Madrid star made some serious improvements, and caught the attention of several clubs in Europe.

Carrasco was close to signing for AS Roma, but in the end he made his move to Spain and has been very impressive in the last few months.
