Catalan newspaper Sport reports Liverpool have renewed their interest in Ousmane Dembele. The Reds have been repeatedly linked with the Barcelona player, with claims going back to the time he was with Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele has failed to fully settle at Barcelona due to a variety of reasons and has therefore been repeatedly linked with an exit from the club.

Sport state Jurgen Klopp ‘asks’ for the player and is keen on a loan deal for the current season. Liverpool have contacted Barcelona ‘in recent hours’ and want to take the Frenchman on a temporary basis.

The plan of the Premier League champions is to pay a loan fee and also cover the player’s wages for the campaign. Barcelona are yet to respond, but Sport believe they’d much rather see a permanent transfer if the player is to leave the Camp Nou before the window ends.

Should negotiations continue then it would be no surprise if Philippe Coutinho clauses are brought into the picture. Barcelona now seem to want to rely on the Brazilian, yet there’s a worry of future payments to Liverpool which will be due.
