Dropped from Brazil’s starting team, Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison may have had mixed feelings when being brought on against Uruguay last night.

The 26-year-old left the bench in the first half because of Neymar’s knee injury, and couldn’t do a lot to help the Seleção in the 2-0 loss.

Quoted by Globo Esporte, the Tottenham player talked about the situation, making it clear he’s worried about his teammate.

“Let’s wait and see the tests. I can’t say for him. Just pray for him so that he can recover well and come back as soon as possible,” said Richarlison.

Brazil had a sequence of bad results, first a draw with Venezuela and now losing to Uruguay. Richarlison claims it’ll take some time for them to adapt to Fernando Diniz’s system, and urges the team to look forward to the next games.

“We knew it was going to be a tough, hard-fought game. We lost a few duels, especially second balls. The guys won almost everything. Now there’s no point in moaning, the game is over, we lost. It’s about correcting the mistakes. We conceded two goals from fullbacks that we can’t afford. Diniz will fix these mistakes so that we can improve.”

Richarlison is having a complicated goal drought for Brazil, as he hasn’t scored since the World Cup. That saw benched in this last match, with Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus replacing him.

With two goals and two assists for Tottenham in nine appearances this season, he now seeks to improve those numbers when Spurs play Fulham on Monday, with Ange Postecoglou’s side trying to stay on top of the league table.
