Oleksandr Zinchenko has been restricted to only 12 minutes of action in the Premier League with Manchester City this season as Pep Guardiola has preferred Benjamin Mendy and João Cancelo for the left-back position in the league.
The Ukraine international has three more starts to his name in the Champions League this term, but the lack of regular opportunities, mostly in the league has seen him draw attention from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Last week, the English media reported Wolves have renewed their interest in the 24-year-old after failing to take him in the summer.
Ukrainian outlet Football Hub have since taken a look at the claims made in England, and journalist Igor Tsyganyk provides update on Zinchenko’s case.
According to Tsyganyk, Wolves can offer regular playing time, lengthy contract and ‘pay big money’ to the former PSV Eindhoven loanee.
However, the player’s desire, for now, is to continue at the Etihad.
The journalist states he is aware ‘how ambitious’ Zinchenko is with regards to Guardiola’s side, which is why he wouldn’t consider leaving City for a club that’s fighting for ‘lower places’ in the Premier League table. This indicates a move to Wolves has been ruled out.
Tsyganyk makes it clear that if Zinchenko has to change clubs, then it will only be for a ‘top 3 club’ from the best five leagues in Europe.
He further adds ‘many clubs’ wants his compatriot, but ‘not everyone can afford’ to sign the City defender.
