Joel Pereira’s transfer to Vitória de Setúbal on a loan deal gets big attention from the Portuguese media on Wednesday.

Newspapers such as A Bola have an entire page for the goalkeeper, who will be staying at the Portuguese side until the end of the season.

Pereira is set to be presented by Vitória on Thursday, when they will have a friendly against Extremadura to show the squad to the fans.

What all the newspapers are saying is that José Mourinho had a big part in the transfer, and there’s some pride taken in that. Born and raised in Setúbal, he saw his father be a goalkeeper for the club, and then started his career as a coach there.

A Bola claims that Pereira had a market in England and Portugal, although the only interested side who are named are Sporting.

The Lions didn’t get to a deal with Manchester United because they couldn’t guarantee that the goalkeeper would be a regular starter during the season.

The newspapers also confirm that Manchester United have added a call-back clause to the contract, which allows the club to have the player back in the January window in case they need to.
