Bayern Munich are reportedly set to make important steps for the signing of the Benfica right-back Nelson Semedo, and that is supposed to give Manchester United and others a nudge.

On Wednesday, as the Eagles are travelling to Dortmund for the UEFA Champions League Round-Of-16, Bayern Munich scouts will be at the stands. That makes sense, given that Bayern routinely scout Benfica matches, they may as watch them in Germany.

According to A Bola, this is one of the most important reports the officials will take about Semedo, whose signing they’ve been considering for a while now.

Something A Bola couldn’t avoid doing is to link other clubs to the player. This time, they claim Bayern would have to face Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United for the transfer.

CapturarThere’s no special information regarding these clubs, as they just want to make it clear that the German side won’t have a clear run.

The newspaper says the player has a €60m release clause, but which can be soon raised to €80m. This change in his contract has been reported by a few Portuguese outlets in the past few months, but has never been officially announced.

In February it was reported in Portugal Manchester United have reached a £35m agreement in principle to sign Semedo.

Benfica would love the transfer fee to rise from that amount and competition from Bayern Munich could help things along. Manchester United lost out on Renato Sanches to Bayern and if Jose Mourinho is serious on Semedo then the club made need to move fast to avoid the same happening again.

Building up the perception of interest will encourage clubs to move quickly, as well as put pressure on the price.
