Currently on loan at Fulham, Timothy Fosu-Mensah could be set for great things, just not at Manchester United.

According to a report in De Telegraaf on Friday, the Dutch defender is earmarked as a potential replacement for Matthijs de Ligt at Ajax, who is widely expected to move onto better and greater elsewhere in the summer.

The 21-year-old hasn’t been used all that much at Craven Cottage, and with a path seemingly blocked at Old Trafford too, perhaps a summer exit might be what’s best for the versatile player.

Ajax, however, refused to comment on the matter, as Erik Ten Hag, their manager, was asked about the story on Friday during a press conference.

Relayed by SoccerNews, he said: “I’ve seen [the story], but as usual, we won’t give an answer. As soon as it is concrete, we will report it through our official channels.”

Fosu-Mensah, who has 21 appearances to his name in a Manchester United shirt, has played just nine times for Fulham this season in the league, his last game being a 28 minute cameo against Crystal Palace on February 2nd.
