Until Emre Can actually puts pen to paper to a contract at Juventus, we’re going to get the continuous stories in the Italian press about the whole thing.

The latest comes from Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that while the Serie A side are still relatively confident about signing the Germany international on a free come the end of the season, the arrival of Real Madrid on the scene has led to some doubt.

The Italian newspaper claim Juventus’ big men in charge recently got in touch with the Liverpool midfielder’s agents, only to find out about the interest from Zinedine Zidane.

It’s not about money, and they make that clear, but the idea of entering through the front door at Santiago Bernabeu ‘doesn’t leave him indifferent’.

Gazzetta are keen to point out that no games are being played here, with Emre Can and his entourage ‘laying their cards out on the table’ and letting Juventus know what the situation is.

Either way, talk of a Liverpool renewal has now long disappeared, and it’s just a matter of where he’ll end up when his current deal runs out.

Juventus are still in the lead, but there are other big clubs sniffing aronud.
