Following a promising yet slightly disappointing 2015-16 season and a change of ownership, Inter Milan want to make some important signings to compete for Champions League football next year.

Falling short of Roma for the final spot for the elite competition, Robert Mancini is looking to improve his squad, and one of the main goals is to sign a player capable of both scoring and creating many goals.

According to Corriere dello Sport on Monday, who have a whole page dedicating to this hunt, the dream signing would be Tottenham’s Erik Lamela.

The former Roma star seemed completely rejuvenated last season following a difficult start to his time in the Premier League, and the 24-year-old scored 11 goals and picked up 10 assists in 44 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

However, those in charge at Inter Milan know that it will be nearly impossible to convince both manager and club to let go of their forward, such was his importance to his side’s successes last season.

Add to that the fact Tottenham will be playing in the Champions League and Inter Milan in the Europa League, and the transfer seems very, very unlikely.

The alternative for the Milan club seems to be Sassuolo’s Domenico Berardi, who is also attracting the attention of Serie A rivals Juventus.

If Lamela is to leave, it won’t be for Inter.
