Porto are on the verge of signing João Carlos Teixeira from Liverpool. The player is running out of contract at Anfield and should be signing for the Portuguese side in the next few days.

According to several outlets from Portugal, including A Bola and Diário de Notícias, the midfielder has agreed what should be a long term deal to establish his career at Porto.

Earlier this year, we covered reports which suggested that Jurgen Klopp would sit with Jorge Mendes to offer the 23-year-old a contract renewal, but these talks were never commented on again.

A Bola says Porto have beat the competition of Betis, Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina in the battle to get the player for free.

João Carlos Teixeira signed for Liverpool from Sporting in February 2012 for €1.2m. After spending the 2014/15 season on loan at Brighton, he returned to Anfield last summer, but had few chances and only made seven senior appearances in 2015/16.
