Everton duo Idrissa Gana Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucouré could be options that Barcelona look at in the January transfer window to help cover for Gavi’s injury.
That’s according to ‘El Bar’ on Cadena SER, who have today analysed various options for the Catalans after the youngster suffered a serious knee injury on international duty.
That injury is set to leave him on the sidelines for months, a major blow for the player but also Barcelona, who will be without a player who has been key for Xavi and is a major part of their plans moving forwards.
Finding a replacement for him will be difficult, particularly given the restrictions on the club given their financial situation.
The hunt will be on to find someone to help fill the void, though, and Cadena SER, alongside journalist Bruno Alemany, propose five options today.
According to Alemany he is a player who “has the ability to steal (the ball) high up” and that could benefit Xavi’s style, although Bojan Krkic has one major issue.
“(He’s) very good defensively, recovering, although a bit tactically disorganized. At Barça, you have to be very clear about tactics,” he said.
Doucouré is an option for the same reason as Gueye, Everton’s sanctions may force them into January sales to help further balance the books.
At 30-years-old, he’d be a more viable option than 34-year-old Gueye, although Cadena do conveniently ignore the fact he recently signed a new contract at Goodison Park.
He’s one that Alemany likes in particularly, though, and feels the midfielder is undervalued in the Premier League.
“I like him more than Gueye, although he would surely be a little more expensive,” he added.
“He is scoring important goals, he is a player with arrival and an impressive physique, I feel that he is very undervalued in the Premier League.”
