As Flamengo midfielder João Gomes waits to be confirmed as Wolverhampton Wanderers’ newest signing, the transfer is seen in Brazil as pretty much done.

Club manager Vitor Pereira had a word with the local media following their game on Sunday, and when asked about the player’s departure, he only wanted to speak about the potential replacement he’ll have in the squad.

“A coach is a person who has to find solutions. I’ll try to find it. The matter is handed over to the board. Our strategy is designed internally and cannot be made public. It will be treated within the club,” said Vitor Pereira (via ESPN Brasil).

João Gomes wasn’t even called up for that match, and according to ESPN Brasil, he should indeed no longer play for Flamengo.

Their report claims Wolves side will pay €17m for the transfer.

The midfielder’s departure from the Rio de Janeiro side was also seemingly backed up by someone close to the player, and that’s his barber.

Vani Du Corte published on Instagram a video where he claims to be working on the last hair cut the player is getting from him.

He wishes the midfielder a safe trip, and at the end of the video, you can hear Gomes claiming it’s ‘a secret’, even though that did not stop him from posting the video on Instagram.

“Today was the last cut on my brother, grateful to God for your friendship brother, May God bless your new trajectory, good trip,” says the caption.
