Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho has been linked with a move to Everton.

These claims originated from England, and it was reported the Toffees are so confident of the ex-Liverpool star returning to Merseyside, they have started house-hunting for him.

It was also explained the Brazil international will move to Goodison Park in a deal worth around £35m (€40m).

Claims made in England have travelled all the way to the Catalan media and Sport have given their take on this case.

‘If Everton’s interest is firm’ in the playmaker, Sport states then it will be ‘necessary to see’ whether or not the La Liga side are willing to settle for a ‘low cost transfer’ of around €40m.

The South American is yet to return to action after suffering a serious injury against Eibar last December. He’s unlikely to feature again for the Blaugrana this season.

Ever since swapping Anfield for the Camp Nou in a deal worth £105m plus variables, Coutinho’s has made 90 appearances for Barcelona, If he makes 100 appearances, then the Spanish club will have to pay an additional amount to Liverpool.

In order to avoid such a scenario and also with the urgent need to lower the overall salary budget, Ronald Koeman’s side are willing to sell the player in the summer.

However, it’s not clear if they will settle for a fee of around €40m, if Carlo Ancelotti’s side or any other club make a firm offer for Coutinho.
