Raphinha’s firm desire to get a move to Barcelona in the last transfer window saw Leeds United agree a deal with the La Liga side.

The Brazil international snubbed an opportunity to join another Premier League club in favour of getting himself a transfer to the Camp Nou.

Since leaving Leeds, the winger has had a mixed start to his life in Spain. He’s scored two goals and registered three assists in all competitions this season, out of which a goal and three assists came in the last four outings.

The former Leeds star’s mixed performances for Barca have not impacted his place in Tite’s squad for the 2022 World Cup. Seleção are one of the favourites to win the FIFA tournament in Qatar, and Raphinha will want to play an important part.

In the event Brazil win the World Cup, the 25-year-old has plans to replicate a celebration he did with Leeds.

“I had not thought about anything if we are champions, but now is a good moment. If we are champions I will do the same as when I managed to stay up with Leeds, when I crossed the entire pitch on my knees,” he said, as quoted by Marca.

In his last outing for Leeds, Raphinha scored and helped the Whites beat Brentford 2-1. The result meant Jesse Marsch’s avoided relegation, and after that tie, the player was seen walking the length of the pitch on his knees.
