It only took a few months of Lucas Torreira’s loan at Fiorentina for his permanent move to Arsenal to become a big topic in the Italian media.

Just yesterday, we’d already seen reports from the local press claiming that La Viola should trigger the buying option and sign the midfielder from the Gunners on a €15m at the end of the season.

Now Radio Bruno’s show Pentasport managed to speak to Ricardo Torreira, Lucas’ father, and talk about the great start the player has been having at the Serie A club.

When speaking of a potential permanent deal, Torreira’s dad claimed it’s ‘clear’ that Fiorentina will use the purchase option should he keep his form at the Italian side.

I want my son to be happy, we support him but if Lucas continues like this then it’s clear that Fiorentina will keep him,” Ricardo Torreira told Radio Bruno (via Viola News).

“The decision rests with him and his agent, a person who has opened many horizons for him. I assure you, however, that at the moment the relationship with the Viola world is excellent.”

Lucas Torreira spent the last season at Atletico Madrid, where he was a rotation player and only made 26 appearances in one year.

Now at Fiorentina, his 13 were enough to start the talk about a permanent move.

His contract with Arsenal runs until 2023.
